Abstract

This study aims to analyze the key factors influencing the internal quality enhancement of higher education institutions to achieve excellent university status. The research focuses on four main variables: governance, human resources (HR), research and community service (RCS) quality, and quality culture. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected from 112 stakeholders at IPMI Institute through a questionnaire. The collected data was then analyzed using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the hypothesized causal relationships between variables. The results of the study show that governance, human resources, and the quality of research & community service have a positive and significant influence on the improvement of university quality. These findings prove that these factors are the main drivers in institutional quality assurance efforts. However, the analysis also found that while quality culture has a positive influence, it is not statistically significant in enhancing quality. This indicates that internal quality improvement in higher education relies more on existing formal systems and procedures than on the cultural aspects among individuals. Overall, this research provides a deeper understanding of the specific role of each factor in enhancing an institution's internal quality. The findings are expected to serve as a practical reference for XWZ Private University (PTS) in formulating a more effective quality enhancement strategy by focusing on strengthening the elements that have been proven to have a significant influence.
