PT. Dok & Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) was founded on February 23, 1991 from the merging of three shipyard companies namely PT. Kodja (Persero), PT. Dok Perkapalan Tanjung Priok (Persero) and PT. Pelita Bahari (Persero), which then followed by the next merging with PT Galangan Kapal Nusantara (Persero) on April 3, 1992. The company objective was to support and execute government's national economic programs especially in the area of planning, building, maintaining and servicing for ships, off-shore construction and under water working, however PT. Dok & Perkapalan Kodja Bahari have been in the state of loss for the last 10 ycars since merge took place. The Company was virtually with no equity except for some fixed assets but unfortunately most of them are non-productive assets. The working spirit was so low for the last 10 years as it is reflected in the no winning performance from its employces. Root of the pr Sle mainly due to internal factor like most of the SOES with government as a single har holder does not reinforce favorable climate to compete in global economy since it is qu.e o len that they are disturbed by political matters, oflen treated as politic cash cow, bad management practice especially no clear, concise and consistent strategy with implementation. Light at the end of tunnel begin in 1998 when new management overtook the board of directors with main objective is to save the company, bringing back to the right track to seize the opportunity that lay ahead given the potential country resources. The new management has been able to put some changes in the Company and deliver positive revenue and quite a significant change of winning attitude on its employees only in 1,5 years.
