Abstract

This Group Field Project is intended to help PT. Pelabuhan Penajam Buana Taka (Eastkal Supply Base Facility) to develop a long term business plan to leverage a growing market demand of logistics service to support oil & gas exploration around East Kalimantan and Makassar Strait. With the declining of Indonesia's crude oil production over the last decade due to natural maturation of existing production oil fields and with few significant oil discoveries in Western Indonesia in the last 10 years, the Government encourage increase in exploration and provide incentives for such as encouragement of 3D seismic surveys, to focus on developing oil reserves in Eastern Indonesia's frontier and deep-sea areas, especially around East Kalimantan and Makassar Strait Looking at the increasing oil & gas exploration activities toward East Kalimantan and Makassar Strait deep sea areas, and limited infrastructure, especially integrated logistics supply base facility, to support those oil & gas exploration activities, Eastkal Supply Base as new entrance in the industry, has numerous business opportunities in the upcoming years. Especially with its competitive advantage against limited number of logistics supply base players within the region, which mostly have limitation in term of supporting deep sea water oil & gas exploration activities, and also Eastkal Supply Base capability to fulfill what customers, in this case oil & gas companies, on what they are expected from a logistics supply base facility. In this report, we propose positioning of Eastkal Supply Base Facility toward competition, and also strategy to support the company growth target, both via expanding existing business services, and also by exploring new business opportunities.
