Abstract

In respect to the reuqruitment of the graduate school of Indonesian management development institute (IPMI), group II exsecutive January 2001 with member consist of Bauki, Dadang,Hardiam, Irfan, and Samsudin (the "Group") deliver this final project as partial fulfilment in accomplishing the master of business administration degree (Magister Management). The group understands that this Group Field Project (GFP) will enable each member to enhance their knowledge and skills by collaborating as teamwork in solving a real business problem, which has complexity due to challenging financial condition and dynamic business enviroment. In the project, the group is pursuing stretegic initiatives to revitalize the financial sustainability that will strengthen the potential growth of PT Group Dua Energy - an Independent power Producer company (the "company" or "GDE"). The company is managing a 60 MW geothermal power plant in central jawa and a geothermal project in West Java. Having a financial distress condition, GDE currently is struggling to fulfil its huge debt oblgation with limited asset value. Obviously, the management of GDE is facing a tremendous challenge to overcome due to insuffcient operating cash flow to service the debt; meanwhile they have to maintain the sustainability the company as well as the business growth.
