Abstract
As one of the largest Muslim populations globally, Indonesia estimated has 242 million Muslims as of 2025. The potential for cash waqf (Islamic charitable endowment in cash form) in Indonesia is substantial, with an estimated potency of IDR 180 trillion. However, the actual realization of cash waqf contributions remains very low at only IDR 1.4 trillion, or 0.77% of the potential. Despite Indonesia's consistent ranking as the most generous country in the World Giving Index and its strong Islamic philanthropic culture, the uptake of cash waqf donations is limited. There is a lack of empirical research on customer behavior regarding donations through cash waqf, and understanding donor motivations, preferences, and barriers is essential for the successful growth of cash waqf initiatives. This study aims to analyze internal factors influencing intentions to donate through cash waqf in Greater Jakarta using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework by incorporating cash waqf literacy into the TPB model to better understand its influence on customer donation behavior. This study is expected to provide insights for waqf management and government institutions to increase community contributions and alleviate poverty through cash waqf. The study population consists of Indonesian Muslim citizens aged between 24 and 60 years residing in the Greater Jakarta area. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, a non-probability technique where participants are selected based on the researcher’s judgment to ensure representativeness and efficiency. The sample size was determined using Cohen's statistical power table to ensure adequate power for hypothesis testing. A total of 93 respondents completed the online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms in August 2025. The study employed a quantitative research approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique, implemented via SmartPLS 4 software. The result showed that Personal Attitude, Subjective Norms, and Cash Waqf Literacy have significant positive effects on Donation Intention through Cash Waqf. Perceived Behavioral Control does not have a statistically significant direct effect on Donation Intention. Cash Waqf Literacy significantly moderates the relationship between Perceived Behavioral Control and Donation Intention. The study suggests that educational campaigns to improve cash waqf literacy and transparent, accessible donation channels are essential to increase donor participation. Keywords: Cash Waqf Literacy, Personal Attitude, Subjective Norm, Perceived Behavioral Control, Donation Intention
