Abstract

The increasing global concern for sustainable transportation has led many cities to explore the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) as a solution to mitigate environmental pollution. Jakarta, as one of the most populous and polluted cities in the world, faces numerous challenges in implementing EVs. This abstract aims to provide an overview of the electric vehicle issue in Jakarta and investigate the intention to adopt EVs among its residents using the unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model, this abstract discusses the specific challenges encountered in the implementation of electric vehicles in Jakarta. These challenges include the limited charging infrastructure, high upfront costs of EVs, inadequate public awareness and education, and the need for supportive policies and regulations. Understanding these challenges is crucial to develop effective strategies for promoting EV adoption in the city. Next will focus on examining the intention to adopt EVs among Jakarta's residents using the modified UTAUT model. UTAUT is a widely accepted theoretical framework that identifies key factors influencing the acceptance and use of technology. These factors include performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, government support, price value, facilitating conditions, and intentional behavior. By applying the modified UTAUT model to the context of EV adoption in Jakarta, we can gain insights into the underlying factors that influence individuals intention to embrace electric vehicles. Through a variety of SEM-PLS analyses with SmartPLS 3, this research collected and analyzed data from 165 females and males.
