Abstract

Writing a peer-reviewed publication is an important part of the careers of scientists, researchers, and lecturers. It is also an essential part of the scientific enterprise that should be done seriously. It requires learning and executing a specific formula for presenting scientific work. This book is all about delivering the style and conventions of writing a peer reviewed science journal, especially based on accounting knowledge as a methodology. Hopefully, anyone who absorbs the lessons of this book can be a better writer and at the end, his (her) work will be judged by the qualities of the science and the writing skill. What I know about science writing has come from my three separate experiences. Firstly, I have written over dozens of papers in my almost fourty years lecturing career in the fields of financial and management accounting. Like most authors, I have learned gradually to become a better writer through practices. Secondly, I have also spent the last three years as Editor-inChief of the International Journal of Business Studies published by Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen IPMI in Indonesia. This experience has forced me to judge the writing of others and to review and evaluate the good, the bad, and the fairness of their articles to be published. And thirdly, I had also experience in witing a case study. The school where I am dedicated myself in, is very famous by its case-study teaching method. Therefore, as one of the lecturers, I have obligation to write at least two case studies per year. Due to these experiences, I embarked on a project of studying what makes for good science writing, and I have read many papers and books written by other writers. This book is mostly a compilation of my journal publications in the last three years, year 2017 to 2019.
