Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Perusahaan Gas Negara, Indonesia (PGN). Currently PGN uses the philanthropic approach. This approach is not sustainable and is not aligned with the company's business. Nevertheless, there are many programs that have been carried out in the form of social enterprises, which are aligned with the company's core business. This study aims to leverage social enterprise as a model for the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility programs at PGN. Social enterprise model relies on community bases to implement CSR in order to drive the company's business performance. This study uses the qualitative method with inductive approach triangulated with CSR expert’s opinion. This study finds that to support the sustainability of PGN’s CSR programs, PGN should align their CSR programs with business strategy development and build social enterprises to implement the CSR Program. Leveraging a social enterprise, as an advance CSR model will have a significant impact on PGN, especially related to the sustainability of CSR program.
