Abstract

Estimated market size of the 3 products (car shampoo, tire dressing, and chamois) in Jabotabek is relatively small ranging from IDR 72 billion to IDR 10o1 billion per annum. No market among the three is struggling through fierce competition in modem retailers. All 3 categories have potential to expand through the channel. Chamois is the most attractive category amongst the 3 in modern retailers, while tire dressing is the least. Modem retailers are experiencing increasing trend in contribution and are gaining more bargaining power toward suppliers. Indonesian consumers prefer to shop at modern retailers compared to other traditional channel and perceive that American and other imported brands have better quality There is strong DIY behavior at using car care products and frequent usage of DIY car care products (88% clean their car at least once a week).
