Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the financial performance of a consumer goods company namely PT. Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP), a consumer goods company listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). To compare the financial performance position against its competitors and industry average, and to analyze factors that affect stock return as well as to analyze factors that affect profitability of ICBP, some selected ratios have been used. The factors are Return on Asset, Debt to Equity ratios and Debt to Asset ratios, Asset Turnover, Current Ratios, Profit Margin, Return on Equity, Market Return and Stock Return. The research is using quantitative research method, and purposive sampling. The samples consist of 36 quarterly financial reports of the company (from 2010 up to 2018). These reports are also compared against PT. Mayora Indah Tbk (MYOR) as one of its closest competitors which is also listed in IDX, and with average consumer goods industry ratios. Based on research finding on analyzing the financial performance, ICBP has a relatively good financial performance compared to its close competitor and average industry. The financial ratios indicate that ICBP was quite successful in managing assets. In terms of analyzing factors that affect stock returns, from all the independent variable in the revised regression model, only market return has marginally significant effect on stock return. In terms of analyzing factors that affect profitability, all the independent variables in the revised regression model: Leverage negatively affect profitability. While Turnover and Profit Margin are both positively effect on profitability. Keywords: competition, leverage, liquidity, turnover, profitability, stock return, market return, profit margin
