Abstract
VUCA is an acronym that has recently found its way into the business. The components of VUCA refers to Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity that have been describe an environment which defies economic turbulence and the rapid change in the business environment and many organizations. In the past decades, most organizations used to choose restructuring and reengineering strategies in response to environmental challenges and changes, and this choice, bring up some idea and solution to this approach to have the ability to face organizational and environmental challenges and they should be replaced with modern viewpoints and approaches. In this period, the organizations are shaped differently among which one of the best and most modern forms is an agile organization. Organization agility heavily reliant to strategy and organization. One of the indicators that relate to strategy is robust intent, because its define the flexibility when the change is needed. However, determine what strategy that can be applied is very crucial in the term VUCA. This study investigates the effect that several factors, such as acceptance, adoption and embrace have on organization agility-robust intent, to asses this issue. This quantitative research analyzes the relationship between the variables mentioned by surveying employees of PT. XYZ in head office and site by surveying 90 employees. The findings of this research indicate that adoption and embrace has positive influence on organization agility, while acceptance does not. This research is expected to contribute future research observing similar variables and their relationship, also to benefit human resources management of coal mining companies, specifically in Indonesia, in developing and establishing human resources strategies in the context of deployment strategy and employee readiness.
