Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has permeated various facets of society, revolutionizing the way industries operate, including the field of education. One challenge that has emerged in this context is the issue of user engagement within technology-mediated education. This study delves into the intricate dynamics of technology acceptance in the education sector and its direct influence on user engagement. Employing a quantitative research design, this study utilized an online questionnaire to gather data from a specific cohort of respondents : parents who are users of the ABC application in the east java region. The research investigates the relationship between various factors affecting the acceptance of educational technology and its subsequent impact on user engagement. The findings shed light on several noteworthy results. First, the study establishes a positive and statistically significant correlation between performance expectation and the intention to use educational technology applications. Additionally, effort expectancy emerged as a crucial factor, revealing a significant positive influence on the intention to use educational technology applications. Surprisingly, social influence was found to exert a positive effect on the intention to use these applications. Furthermore, the research demonstrates that the intention to use plays a pivotal role in driving user engagement within the realm of educational technology applications. This positive and significant relationship emphasizes the importance of fostering positive attitudes towards technology in order to enhance user engagement.
