Abstract
Generational differences that affect different views on work in various industries are currently being discussed and in industry 4.0 which is developing rapidly along with the development of technology in the world. Various studies have been conducted to find out how significant the differences of each generation are. Currently in Indonesia, where the majority have become employees in companies and dominate around 30% of the population in Indonesia. This study is intended to analyze the relationship of career development, rewards and recognition to job satisfaction with the generation gap, between generation Z and previous generations, as moderation effect. Using a quantitative approach with a questionnaire-based survey, data was collected from a sample of 199 employees working in various industries, in Jabodetabek as the economic epicentral of the country. SPSS (Statistical package for the social sciences) and PLS (Partial Least Square) structural equation modeling were the tools used to analyze the data obtained. The findings of the study show that job satisfaction is affected by career development, Rewards and recognition which is shown by P-value score is nearly 0 (zero). The job satisfaction itself affected 83% by career development, reward and recognition. The moderating effects of generation Z do not affect the condition, which means that the relationship between career development and rewards recognition on Job satisfaction is not moderated by generation gap. Thus, theoretical implications can be considered that rewards recognition is a greater factor in efforts to increase job satisfaction. This can be considered as a basis for companies to develop their employees better, as the managerial implication. Future research is recommended to conduct mixed method, collect wider respondent on different areas and also explore different factors that represents rewards and recognition better.
