Abstract

Maritim transportation plays the largest and most important role in world transportation, with a percentage reaching 90% of oil shipments in Indonesia via ship transportation. The marine tanker industry is an important sector of the global economy, transporting oil and gas around the world. The ship inspection report program (SIRE) aims to ensure that tankers meet high standards of safety and quality and minimize losses, risk of maritime accidents. This research aims to determine the impact of SIRE inspections on financial and operational performance, as well as business strategy and risk management, in the tanker industry in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative research methodology with triangulation techniques. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with five informants from two tanker companies (PT Soechi Lines and Bernhard Schulte Ship Management (BSM) in 2023. the study findings show that SIRE inspections have a positive impact on the performance of the tanker industry in Indonesia. SIRE inspections improve tanker safety and reduce the risk of maritime accidents. This leads to increased customer confidence and reduced insurance costs. The study also found that SIRE inspections had a positive impact on the tanker industry's operations. SIRE inspections improve tanker efficiency and reduce downtime. This leads to increased profits and shareholder value. This study concludes that SIRE inspectios are an effective tool for improving the safety and performance of the tanker industry in Indonesia. SIRE inspections can help reduce the risk of maritime accidents, increase customer confidence, and improve the tanker industry's operations and finances.
