Abstract
The future of Indonesia undoubtedly falls into the hands of the children of today, who will thrive into the future as leaders of the next generations. It was expressed by UNICEF (2020) that Indonesian children are one of the most valuable assets of the country and that the future of the nation will be massively impacted by the present choices made for children. While it has been made evident of how crucial children and their development are, they may not yet understand the imperative role they play in society and why certain life skills need to be learned in order for them to blossom into adulthood. With powerfully curious minds, children should be supported to indulge in the freedom of exploration and expression, outside of the academic learning environment. One well-known, yet sometimes taken for granted, method to support this is none other than arts and crafts. While it has been discussed that there is an undoubted noteworthy role of arts and crafts in a child's overall development, sadly, it is often overlooked and merely deemed as just a "fun" activity. On the contrary, innumerable research has proven that it has an underlying potential that would be a shame if not explored upon. Beginning with Rumah Piatu Muslimin, crafted youth is a project that encourages children to 'craft' their childhood by embracing and expressing their inner creativity and imagination. The main objective is to promote the usage of arts and crafts as a creative and enjoyable method of uplifting the development of young children, while also being a creative outlet to express themselves.
