Abstract
The main issue of this thesis was the hampered performance of the PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) (Persero) Tbk and The State of Enterprises (SOE) which is under the management of the Ministry of State Own Enterprises in Indonesia during pandemic covid-19. Competitive Advantage (CA) was proposed as the dependent variable as a measure for firm performance. The objective of the study is to examine the effect of Business Coping Strategy (BCS), Improvisational Competence (IMPC), and Transformational Leadership (TL) this study also assessed the moderating effect of Transformational Leadership (TL) on Competitive Advantage. Altogether, objective and research framework were theoretically underpinned by Resource-Based View (RBV). The population observed is upper level management in Indonesia. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the targeted respondents. The sample size was 91 collected during the period of July to Aug 2021. The data was analyzed using SPSS v25 and Smart PLS3. The result showed that statistically significant positive relationships were found in two direct effects: BCSCA and BCS-IC, while IC was found to mediate the BCS-CA relationship. However, there is no moderating effect of Transformational Leadership in the relationship between IC and CA. The finding contributes to literature with the moderator variable of Transformational leadership and mediating variable of Improvisational Competence. The practical implication of the study is to provide PTPP management some guidance on the appropriate response strategy and decision making which would better-position them in a crisis situation.
