Abstract
The contribution of micro and small enterprises to Indonesia GDP is the highest in South East Asia (57%). Despite having the highest contribution to GDP, the ratio of entrepreneur to total population is only 1,7% compare to our neighbour countries, and often the motivation for entrepreneurial self-employment occurs as a result of a lack of job opportunities in the formal economy, not because of the strong willingness of individuals to perform entrepreneurial behavior. The purpose of this empirical research is to examine the level of entrepreneurial intention and interrelated factors that influences entrepreneurial intention such as personal attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control. The potential moderating effects of gender on the relationships between the personal attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurial intention were also examined. The research has conducted using quantitative method in Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen IPMI. Entrepreneurial intention and other predictive variables were measured by using the survey questionnaire based on theory of planned behaviour framework. Data was collected from a sample of 76 students using stratified proportional sampling. The data was analyzed using PLS-SEM software SmartPLS3 to test the hypotheses. The statistical results revealed a significantly positive relationship between personal attitude and entrepreneurial intention, perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurial intention. Gender played an important role in moderating relationship between personal attitude, perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurial intention. However, the moderating effect of gender were found not significant in the relationship between subjective norm and entrepreneurial intention. The results of this study contribute to the present pool of knowledge about entrepreneurial intention and further understandings of the predictive power of personal attitude, subjective norm a perceived behavioural control on entrepreneurial intention.
