Abstract
This study investigates the impact of internal and external factors on the financial performance of retail trade firms in Indonesia. Despite the sector’s strong post-pandemic growth, retail firms face increasing pressure from changing consumer behavior, intense competition, and macroeconomic volatility. The internal variables analyzed include Revenue Growth, and store productivity, while the external variables are inflation rate and per capita income growth. Using a quantitative research design and purposive sampling, the study focuses on retail trade firms that are listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX), have existed since 2013, have complete financial reports available from 2013 to 2023, not been delisted. Secondary data is collected from company reports and government databases, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression based techniques to evaluate the strength and direction of variable relationships. Overall, the study concludes that firm size is the key factor that enables revenue growth and productivity to translate into stronger financial performance, while external factors such as inflation and per capita income growth play a more limited role. Keywords: Retail trade, Financial Performance, Revenue Growth, Store Productivity, Inflation Rate, Per Capita Income Growth
