Abstract

This thesis investigates the financial strategies for cocoa manufacturers, focusing on PT Wahana Interfood Nusantara Tbk (the Company). The study aims to diagnose the financial health, analyze the business model, and develop effective financial strategies to ensure the Company's sustainability in Indonesia's cocoa industry. Employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, this research utilizes SWOT, TOWS, PESTLE, Business Model Canvas (BMC), Altman Z-Score, and DuPont analysis tools. Primary data was collected through in-depth interviews with the Company's executives, while secondary data was obtained from financial reports and industry statistics, covering a period from 2022 to 2024. The analysis highlights the Company's strengths (high-quality products, strong distribution), weaknesses (reliance on raw materials, limited innovation, low efficiency), opportunities (growing demand for organic products), and threats (high cocoa prices, competition). The Altman Z-Score indicates a high risk of bankruptcy due to consistent financial distress, while the DuPont analysis reveals declining profitability and efficiency. The BMC analysis outlines the company's value proposition, customer segments, and key activities. The study recommends commodity hedging strategies, vertical integration, operational improvements, and financial restructuring to improve profitability and ensure long-term sustainability. The Government is recommended to support the cocoa industry by improving infrastructure, providing incentives for downstream manufacturing, promoting sustainable farming practices, and providing assistance for R&D and marketing. This research offers practical insights for PT Wahana Interfood Nusantara Tbk, other cocoa manufacturers, and policymakers to enhance their strategies and navigate the challenges within Indonesia's cocoa industry.
