Abstract

This thesis examines the need for product diversification at PT. Global Edukasi Talenta Incubator (GETI), a vocational training institution in Indonesia that heavily relies on the Prakerja program. It evaluates GETI’s internal and external environment, including its strengths and weaknesses, to determine the most suitable product diversification strategies. The findings will contribute to a comprehensive diversification framework, guiding vocational training institutions in developing holistic strategies to enhance competitiveness and sustainability. Additionally, the study explores innovative approaches to diversification, such as online learning, hybrid programs, and international collaborations, expanding the scope of options for institutions like GETI. GETI's participation as a partner in the Kartu Prakerja program in 2019 was a strategic move to empower individuals through accessible and relevant vocational training. However, GETI's heavy reliance on the Prakerja program has created business vulnerabilities, necessitating diversification to mitigate risks and ensure long-term sustainability. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using a single case study design and triangulation of data through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The study also utilizes PESTLE, SWOT, and TOWS analyses to evaluate GETI's macro- environment, internal strengths and weaknesses, and strategic options for diversification. The findings highlight the need for GETI to diversify its program offerings, adapt to the changing skills landscape, and leverage its strengths. Potential diversification strategies include developing online and hybrid learning programs, expanding into new industry sectors, offering corporate training programs, and providing educational consulting services. By implementing these strategies, GETI can reduce its reliance on the Prakerja program, enhance its competitiveness, and achieve long-term sustainability in the dynamic Indonesian vocational education market.
