Abstract

Indonesia is experiencing robust economic growth, fuelled by a rising middle class, a young and skilled workforce, and government initiatives fostering investment. This growth is strongly reliant on efficient infrastructure, particularly ports, which serve as gateways for international trade, support domestic industries, attract foreign investment, and contribute to tourism development. Seaports operating in Northern Jakarta area played major role in serving substantial portions of international and domestic trade, catering for both populations, economic and industrial activities in surrounding hinterland of Greater Jakarta region, Banten, and West Java province. This document presents a strategic recommendation for Pelabuhan Marunda Center, a multipurpose port located on the borderline of Greater Jakarta and West Java province, aiming to position the port as a key contributor to the hinterland's continued growth. Porter's 5 Forces are used to assess industry attractiveness by analysing Competitive Rivalry, Supplier Power, Buyer Power, Threat of Substitution, and Threat of New Entry. Furthermore, SWOT analysis is employed to identify the port's internal strengths and weaknesses, alongside external opportunities and threats. Finally TOWS analysis will ensure key findings from these aforementioned tools are leveraged to develop actionable recommendations for the company. This strategic recommendation outlines a roadmap model for Pelabuhan Marunda Center to capitalize on existing strengths, address weaknesses, and seize emerging opportunities within the dynamic maritime industry. The recommendation serves as a crucial guide, ensuring the port remains competitive and achieves sustained growth, ultimately contributing to Indonesia's economic prosperity in the years to come.
