Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology and increasing market volatility compel Banks to embrace digital transformation, aiming to enhance efficiency, meet evolving customer expectations, and remain resilient in a dynamic financial landscape. PT. Bank Permata, Tbk. (Permata Bank), which is one of the Top Ten Banks in Indonesia, needs to have the right strategy for sustainable business growth for the next 10 years. This study aims to provide input and proposals for the future business development strategies of Permata Bank in the digital era and high market volatility In this study, a comparative analysis was carried out to determine which is more priority between digital banking and physical-branch banking for the development of Permata Bank's business and services. Before formulating a strategy, this study will analyze and evaluate the financial performance of Permata Bank to see the Bank's financial condition, health level and resilience in the face of any financial market turmoil that occurs. In assessing the level of health of the Bank, the analysis will use a Risk Based Bank Rating (RBBR) approach, following the directions of the Regulators. Banks must perform a soundness-evaluation utilizing RBBR, both on an individual and consolidated basis, encompassing an assessment of Risk Profile, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Earnings, and Capital considerations. The Risk Profile factor will evaluate Non-Performing Loans (NPL), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) to determine credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk. GCG is evaluated through content analysis of the disclosures presented in the Bank's Annual Report. The earnings component is assessed using the indicators of Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Net Interest Margin (NIM), Ratio of Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), and Cost to Income Ratio (CIR). Meanwhile, the capital component is assessed using the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR). The data source is derived from the Audited Financial Reports of Permata Bank for the years 2020 to 2024. In this study, various analyses were also carried out such as SWOT and TOWS Analysis, Porter's Five Forces Analysis, VRIN Analysis, and compiling a Business Model Canvas as part of preparing the right business development strategy, to create a resilient and innovative Permata Bank in facing various global economic challenges, the speed of technological change and changes in consumer behavior. Overall, Permata Bank has been developing digital banking to encourage productivity, efficiency and service improvement to customers, and the hybrid concept, which is a balanced combination of digital banking and physical branches, is the best choice in business development and service improvement. Permata Bank's financial condition is healthy, has strong capital and is quite adaptive to technological changes. Permata Bank can develop competitive strategies and differentiation through exploring the advantages of its internal resources, compared to competitors, especially in terms of collaboration with Bangkok Bank, By having a strong Unique Value Proposition with reliable technology support, Permata Bank can grow its business faster and capture every business opportunity and increase the market share, and realizing Permata Bank as the Bank of choice in Indonesia.
